Our Consultation & Estimating Process
Choosing a contractor is a big decision, and we believe clear communication upfront makes all the difference. At Matthew 6 Construction, our goal is to give you a complete picture of your project, from initial ideas to the finished home, so you can make informed decisions without surprises.
We’re here to help every step of the way. If you’re unsure about any part of the process, want guidance, or just want to talk through your project, reach out anytime.
Once you reach out by phone, email, text, or through our online form, a team member will contact you within two business days. During this first step, we gather the basics about your project, answer any early questions, and outline the best next steps.
You may be asked to provide:
Project address
Photos of your existing space (if applicable)
A general description of the work you envision
Timeline or planning considerations
This helps us approach your consultation with a clear understanding of your goals.
Getting Started
The Good Faith Estimate call is where we dive into your project in more detail. Typically hosted virtually via Google Meet, this call allows our estimator to review what you’ve shared and discuss the scope of work, your goals, and priorities.
During the call, we also:
Answer any questions you may have about the process
Explore initial layout, style, and design considerations
Provide a rough estimate of your project to help gauge budget alignment
Hosting the call virtually allows us to transcribe the discussion and provide you with a written summary within three days. This step gives you a clear record of what was discussed and helps you determine if moving forward is a good fit before we dive into more detailed planning.
Once you’re ready, we schedule an on-site visit to gather measurements, site conditions, and details for the final written estimate.
Initial Consultation & Good Faith Estimate
Preconstruction Services Phase
Once you’ve reviewed the good faith estimate and decide to move forward, we schedule a time for our estimator to visit your home or project site. This on-site visit allows us to gather all the necessary information and details, such as measurements, conditions, and specific project requirements, so we can prepare a final, accurate written estimate.
Site Visits: Assessing your property and existing conditions
Subcontractor Coordination: Consulting with trade partners for accurate cost input
Design Collaboration: Reviewing layouts, materials, and finishes to capture your vision
Supplier & Material Meetings: Confirming pricing and availability
*If you move forward and approve the final estimate, the Preconstruction Services Fee is applied toward your total project cost.*
The Preconstruction Services Fee includes:
Once construction begins, we keep you informed at every step. Our team ensures timelines, craftsmanship, and quality are maintained. We’re available to answer questions, manage change orders, and coordinate inspections as needed.
Even after your project is complete, we remain available to support you. Our goal isn’t just to build or remodel your space, it’s to help you create a home you’ll enjoy for years to come.
